Loos & Showers
Many people have been asking about our loos and showers. The old bucket shower is not really working any more but we have got a bit more organised and we’ve upgraded. As you can see in the photos we’ve got new flushing loos and sinks with hot and cold running water. We have two hot showers and flushing loos in the main area as well as 2 other flushing loos with hot showers and kitchen sinks dotted round the site so nobody is that far from a loo or shower.
Everything is in a new wooden building where the old long-drop loo used to be. The long-drop loo has been moved to a new location sort of discretely in the middle of the site. there are actually two long-drop loos now.
Washing Up Stand
We have a lovely washing up stand with two large sinks and a huge draining area made of reclaimed slate. It has hot and cold running water from large commercial kitchen sink shower taps. All the water on the site is fresh mains drinking water, even from the standpipes, so no need to buy lots of bottled water if you don’t want to.
The Bucket Shower
The shower has a very simple operation, sadly not in operation anymore but we may revive the system for those wanting a wild shower. First, take one of the metal buckets and fill it with water. Heat the water by putting the metal bucket on your campfire. Carry the hot water back to the shower (taking care not to burn your hands) and tip it into the shower bucket. Add cold water get the right temperature and to make a longer shower time. Hoist the bucket into the tree and turn the tap on.
Long-Drop loos
We also have 2 very nice long-drop loos. If these are at all smelly then please let us know as we keep loads of saw-dust on site. A liberal sprinkling is all it takes to make them sweet again.

Our barn has sockets and a freezer for re-freezing your icepacks. it is a great communal space. we sometimes set up a bar there and occasionally have live music.
